At Shentons, we have extensive experience in defending allegations relating to Modern Slavery. In these cases, we are often instructed by a young person’s parents or carer. The young person has been charged with a serious crime and the parent or carer knows that something does not add up.
We work with the young person and Modern Slavery experts to ascertain whether they are being exploited. Often the young person will deny this is happening to them because they have been groomed or they are in fear. Modern Slavery can be used as a defence in a variety of crimes, including but not limited to; Possession with intent to supply drugs, Conspiracy to supply drugs and Possession of an offensive weapon.
If they are being exploited it is vital that the Court hears about this, so they are not criminalised unjustly.

The quality of work and service was excellent, Michelle is on the ball and responsive to emails, she pushed the other side and made sure we were comfortable and informed at every step. Despite being thrown some curve balls Michelle remained calm, and dealt with all of them in an efficient but thorough manner. From quote to completion everything her and her team did was excellent, and in line with the estimate given which for first time buyers allowed us to budget without fear of massive final bill. 11 months agoI was involved in criminal case over the course of 4 years, my original solicitor two years into my case then let me down due to conflict of interest, I was then given Shenton’s number. They took my case on and ended up being miles better than my previous solicitor Everyone was so helpful, easy to get hold of, everything was explained to me really well, The matter in hand was rather sensitive to myself and it was a tough defence, and I felt very supported by all staff involved in my case.
