Exclusions of children with SEN and Disability are a complex area and often a cause of misunderstanding that puts the child at a disadvantage to their peers.
Meet the Special Educational Needs legal team
Children can be labelled as ‘naughty’ at school and excluded or suspended when in fact the behaviour they are exhibiting is a characteristic of their disability or due to their needs not being met properly. In such cases punitive action may not be appropriate and the treatment of your child by the school could be discriminatory.
We can advise you on your rights in this situation and what action you should take to bring a disability discrimination claim to the SEND Tribunal. We can also represent you in these claims.
Outside of a formal discrimination claims, we can also help you with discussions with schools, complaints to governing bodies and finding and transitioning to new placements.

2 weeks agoShentons have provided my son with brilliant support throughout a court case. From very first contact, we have had an amazing and highly professional defence. Call backs have always happened when scheduled, the lawyers have been clear, realistic and honest about outcomes. In court support has been reassuring and we felt that the very best defence was prepared and delivered. The barrister appointed was also outstanding and did a wonderful job on both court appearances. My son, the defendent, has learning disabilities/ autism. This was taken into consideration ideation throughout and he was treated with kindness and empathy. We are so grateful for the care and support that we have received. I cannot recommend Shentons more highly.Posted on Google

in the last weekI can't recommend this solicitor highly enough. From start to finish, they were extremely professional, always available to answer my questions, and provided me with much-needed peace of mind during a stressful time. Chloe, was fantastic — she was incredibly reassuring, took the time to understand exactly what I was going through, and made sure I felt supported every step of the way. I truly trusted her to handle everything, and she exceeded my expectations. If you need reliable and empathetic legal support, look no further!Posted on Google

4 months agoI was referred to Shentons by a friend and have used Patrick Hunter in my dealings with my house, wills and POA. Patrick's service to me was unquestionable. He was professional, knowledgeable, conscientious and very kind. He kept me up to date every step of the way with my business. Nothing was to much trouble for him at all. I would not hesitate to use Patrick and the firm if I had any problems and I would definitely recommend him and the firm to my friends and family.Posted on Google

7 months agoChloe Jay helped my son when he got into bother. She was efficient, professional and knowledgable, but also very approachable. I felt able to ring and speak with her when needed, (obviously she asked my son if he was happy for me to speak on his bahalf). Thank you Chloe for making us feel supported in a difficult situation. I''d also like to mention Shae who was also very knowledgeable and approachable when I couldn't speak to Chloe. I would recommend Chloe to anyone for criminal legal representation.Posted on Google
