Leo Noonan joined our Family Team as a Solicitor in 2024. In this interview he tells us about his passion for justice, penchant for statement suits and obsession with Chelsea Football Club.

What made you want to become a solicitor?

It is a bit odd, but when I was young, I loved watching shows like Judge Judy and the idea of telling silly people off for a living could be an interesting job! A few years later, I was lucky enough to have a form tutor at secondary school who was a qualified Solicitor, so I got to learn more about the realities of practising law and from my first GSCE Law lesson I was hooked.

What is the best moment of your career to date?

My favourite moment in my career so far was actually something that many family lawyers see as a small job. I prepared a change of name deed for a transgender man, he attended the office with his mum to sign the document and it was a pleasure to be a part of such a joyful moment. I knew at that moment I made a significant change to that young man’s life and it reaffirmed my reasoning for wanting to be a Solicitor; to make a material difference to people’s lives, for the better.

What do people comment on when you are at work?

This has to be a tie between my vast suit collection or the plethora of Chelsea Football Club memorabilia on my desk. I don’t do anything by halves, so both are always a talking point. Although I think my colleagues prefer my sharp outfits to my chat about the transfer window!

What are you looking forward to for the future now that you are at Shentons Solicitors?

I am looking forward to helping our Family Team grow and continuing to provide reliable, tailored advice to every client. From my initial introduction to Family Law at GCSE, to my role as a qualified Solicitor, my focus has always been on the positive impact that quality legal advice can have on families who are navigating the legal system. Working with a team that shares that passion is truly fulfilling.
